Mulch Hay and Wheat Straw should be applied at 1-2 bales per thousand square feet. For DOT jobs, it should applied at 5-10 bales per thousand square feet(4 inches thick) for temporary mulch, and 3-4 bales per thousand square feet(2 inches thick) for mulching over seed.
